Rehabilitative Modalities to Reduce Pain & Promote Healing:

Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is a manual technique that provides improved circulation, increased mobility and decreased muscle tension, pain, and swelling. By applying certain manual techniques to specific areas of the body affected by pain or injury, our physical therapists use massage to reduce symptoms and provide relief.
Spinal Traction
If you have back pain, spinal traction, or spinal decompression therapy, can reduce pressure and discomfort in the spine. Traction is performed either manually or with a traction table. This technique encourages space between the spinal discs, working against gravity to encourage spinal discs back into place and allowing the flooding of healing fluids into the spine.
Joint Mobilization
Increasing your mobility is an important aim of physical therapy. Joint mobilization is a hands-on technique that leads to improved range of motion in the joints. It’s a non-aggressive technique that is adjusted based on the needs of the patient.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial release helps to decrease pressure or tension in the muscle tissues. This pressure and tension can be caused by injury or a chronic condition. This technique involves applying gentle manual pressure or stretching to the painful area in order to increase mobility and function.
Electrical Stimulation
Gentle, controlled electrical stimulation applied to painful muscles causes them to contract, resulting in strengthening. This modality also helps to improve blood flow, relieve spasms, and increase mobility and can be effective in treating arthritis and other pain conditions.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound in physical therapy is a treatment modality that applies heat to the soft tissues that are causing pain. These tissues include muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Ultrasound helps to improve circulation and increase range of motion. It can be used to treat strains, sprains, tendonitis, and more.
Therapeutic Exercises
We design customized exercise regimens for our patients in order to build strength and flexibility in painful muscles and tissues.
